About the position

The Nurse Resident/Fellow position in the Surgical ICU at Parkland Health & Hospital is designed for individuals who are passionate about patient care and are looking to grow their nursing skills in a supportive environment. As a registered nurse, you will be responsible for coordinating patient care delivery by collaborating with the healthcare team. This role emphasizes the importance of the nursing process, where you will assess patients, identify nursing diagnoses, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses to treatment. The RN will utilize their knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to ensure smooth transitions through the healthcare encounter, minimizing preventable complications or delays. In this position, you will also be expected to delegate interventions to healthcare personnel in accordance with the Texas Nursing Practice Act, taking into account each patient's condition and the competencies of the staff involved. The role requires a commitment to patient advocacy, focusing on patient needs, rights, and preferences, while maintaining positive relationships with all stakeholders, including patients, families, and healthcare team members. You will also have opportunities to participate in community outreach activities, enhancing your engagement with the community and promoting health education. The RN will be responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and policies that govern nursing practice. This includes developing effective internal controls to ensure adherence to state and federal laws, as well as the requirements of accreditation agencies. Accurate and timely documentation is crucial, as you will be expected to maintain patient care records that meet departmental standards. Requirements
