Job Description:

 

L3Harris is seeking a Specialist HR Business Partner to support our Engineering organization within the Mission Critical Communications (MCC) sector. In this role, you will work closely with Engineering leaders and employees to deliver HR strategies and initiatives that enable business success. You will use your strong relationship‑building and communication skills to influence the organization, support key initiatives, and help shape our culture, talent practices, and HR processes.

This is a dynamic role supporting multiple engineering disciplines and partnering with a collaborative HR team. You will have the opportunity to learn and make an impact across several MCC Engineering locations while supporting strategic HR priorities.  The position reports to the Director, HR Business Partner for the MCC HR team and is based in Rochester, NY.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Serve as HR Business Partner for assigned Engineering client groups, and provide strategic support and guidance in the areas of compensation, employee relations, learning & development, performance management, staffing, and engagement at all levels
  • Collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence, matrixed HR counterparts, enterprise-wide service organizations, and support functions such as Legal, Ethics, Finance, Security, and EH&S 
  • Enforce human resources policies and state labor laws, providing counsel and assistance to employees and management
  • Construct and communicate narratives through data analytics to equip leaders with objective information to make sound business decisions
  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement talent management strategies that enhance organizational structure and performance in alignment with business objectives
  • Model L3Harris business operating system principles and processes with a focus on increasing administrative excellence and process improvement
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with management and employees through strategic visibility in 1:1s, staff meetings, daily stand-ups, etc.
  • Promote and model high professional standards, positive interpersonal relationships and demonstrate L3Harris core values
  • Support site or sector-specific projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field with 4 years experience as a HR Generalist or Business Partner, or a Graduate Degree with 2 years experience with in Human Resources or related field.  In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Experience working as an HR Business Partner with increasing scope and responsibility, supporting various levels within the organization, preferably within a matrix and government contracting environment.
  • Experience with Team Facilitation, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Workforce Planning, Compensation, Diversity & Inclusion, and Organizational Development.
  • Strong business and HR acumen, including proactive problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a proven track record of delivering on commitments.
  • Demonstrated experiences with strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively influence and coach managers and employees.
  • Highly adaptable and able to succeed in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment as well as operate independently.
  • Possesses a high degree of professional integrity and confidentiality with an eye for attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office software such as Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to analyze and display data.  Knowledge of HR systems such as PeopleSoft, PeopleFluent, Oracle, SuccessFactors.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $67,000 – $124,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
