About the position

The Water Meter Reader at Dallas Water Utilities is responsible for accurately reading and interpreting water meters across various settings, including residential, commercial, industrial, and parks. Responsibilities

  • Reads residential, commercial, industrial, or park water meters to ensure accurate billing.

  • Uses a hand-held computer to input data about meter reads, invalid addresses, code violations, repairs needed, sequence changes, and hazardous conditions.

  • Reports repair work needed in and around meter boxes and hazardous conditions.

  • Performs maintenance activities such as cleaning and replacing clock glass and gasket, replacing clock lids, and inspecting meter registers.
