Job Summary We're seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Specialist to join our team in a remote FedEx Logistics position. As an Ocean Freight Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the growth of ocean volumes, enhancing the development of the ocean product, and promoting the ocean product to internal and external stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and results-driven individual to join our team and contribute to the success of our ocean freight operations. Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement strategies to increase ocean volumes, maximize competitiveness, enhance service quality, and support adherence to our preferred network. • Assist in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and working with the Transportation Logistics Manager (TLM) to develop an ocean strategy that enhances the effectiveness of sales and achieves expectations of account development and yield enhancement. • Communicate strategies, market conditions, and direction to internal and external stakeholders, including the MD, Ocean, Global Trade Lane Team, Sales, and Operations. • Direct and indirect customer contact will be required to provide exceptional service and support to our customers. • Work closely with Product, Sales, and Operations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, minimize company risk exposure, and enhance service quality and achieve volume targets. • Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being met or exceeded. • Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity, and submit reports as required. • Work with the MD, Ocean, and Regional Ocean Management Team to promote the ocean product and support sales and operations as needed. • Manage annual budgets, control, monitor, and report results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets. • Collaborate with Marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product. Requirements To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following qualifications and skills Essential Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (8) years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, and analyzing ocean rates and routing. • Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus. • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications. • Excellent communication and presentation skills. • Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen. • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications • Master's degree or higher in a related field. • Professional certifications in logistics or supply chain management. • Experience in a similar role or industry.
