Job Description

Vale Logistics Mozambique is seeking an accomplished and strategic Finance Operations Manager with a "Remote Option" to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role will be instrumental in overseeing and optimizing the financial operational processes for our Nacala operations, ensuring robust financial control, efficient resource allocation, and meticulous compliance with both local and international financial regulations. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to drive continuous improvement in financial workflows, manage budgetary processes, and provide critical financial insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain robust financial policies, procedures, and internal controls in compliance with corporate guidelines and local regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and analysis, providing actionable insights into financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Manage the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and resource allocation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in financial processes and systems, leveraging technology to enhance automation, data integrity, and reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reconciliation of all financial accounts and proactively resolve any discrepancies or complex financial issues.
  • Liaise effectively with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and comprehensive explanations for financial practices and records.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and continuous learning.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (7+ years) in financial operations management within a large-scale organization.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and local Mozambican accounting standards.
  • Expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and comprehensive financial reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and expert-level MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management, and talent development abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, for engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or similar.
  • Extensive experience in the mining, logistics, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Fluency in Portuguese (written and spoken) is a significant advantage for local operations.
