In this role you will ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data while partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and other business teams to improve processes and drive operational efficiency.</p><br><p>As a senior individual contributor, you will own key accounting workflows, support month-end close activities, and identify opportunities to streamline processes, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, operational awareness, and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.</p><br><br><p>This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact at the intersection of accounting, operations, and transformation. You’ll join a collaborative environment where your leadership, technical expertise, and process improvement mindset will help shape scalable, well-controlled finance operations in a growing logistics and fulfillment business.</p><br><p><b>What You’ll Do:</b></p><ul><li>Month-end and period close for operational accounts (reconciliations, journals, accruals, intercompany)</li><li>Produce operational and management reports (costs, margin, inventory, service volumes, KPI’s) and explain variances.</li><li>Own <b>accounting compliance, internal controls, and audit readiness</b> across high-volume operational processes, distribution centers, and related entities.</li><li>Heavy involvement in the <b>annual external audit</b> process, including preparation of schedules, coordination of audit requests, and partnership with internal stakeholders and external auditors.</li><li>Support and lead aspects of the <b>month-end close</b>, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting.</li><li>Drive process improvements and automation to reduce errors and month-end efforts.</li><li>Own and execute key <b>operational accounting processes</b> such as: inventory reconciliations, cycle count results, adjustments, reserves, and variance analysis across warehouse and fulfillment environments.</li><li>Partner closely with operations, procurement, and FP&A teams to ensure accounting treatment reflects business activity and <b>supports scalable growth</b>.</li><li>Lead or support <b>ERP conversions</b> and systems initiatives, including process mapping, testing, cutover readiness, issue resolution, training, and post-implementation stabilization.</li><li>Drive <b>cross-functional projects</b> focused on process improvement, automation, reporting visibility, and financial control enhancements across accounting operations.</li><li>Develop, document, and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating practices that <b>improve consistency, scalability, and compliance</b>.</li></ul><br><p><b>Who You Are:</b></p><ul><li>Detail-oriented and analytical, with a strong commitment to accuracy and data integrity.</li><li>A proactive problem solver who identifies issues and drives solutions.</li><li>A collaborative partner who works effectively across Finance, Operations, and other teams.</li><li>Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.</li><li>A continuous improvement mindset, always looking to streamline and optimize processes.</li></ul><p><b> </b></p><p><b>What You’ve Done:</b></p><ul><li>5–8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, with a focus on <b>accounting compliance and operational accounting.</b></li><li>Demonstrated experience in logistics, fulfillment, distribution, warehousing, transportation, or other <b>inventory-intensive operating environments</b>.</li><li>Strong understanding of <b>GAAP principles</b> and accounting processes.</li><li>Experience managing <b>month-end close activities</b> and account reconciliations.</li><li>Advanced Excel and ERP systems knowledge with the ability to analyze large data sets, identify process gaps and implement effective solutions.</li><li>Experience supporting audits and maintaining internal controls.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred or in progress).</li></ul><p> </p><p><b>What Will Make You Stand Out:</b></p><ul><li>Background in third-party logistics (3PL), retail distribution, e-commerce fulfillment, or <span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">transportation-driven</span> operating models.</li><li>Experience supporting external audits, internal audits, SOX compliance, or policy governance in a dynamic operating environment.</li><li>Exposure to rapid growth, private equity-backed, or transformation-stage organizations.</li><li>PMP or other project management certification is a plus.</li></ul><p><b> </b></p><p><b> </b></p><p>Currently, Cart.com does not intend to hire candidates who will need, now or in the future, Cart.com sponsorship through any non-immigrant visa category such as the H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, O-1, or TN.</p><p> </p><p>All hiring is contingent on eligibility to work in the United States.
