Your Next Challenge

Reporting to the Mine General Supervisor, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all practices and procedures are performed with respect to the defined regulations.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the mining team by verifying that weekly and monthly safety audits are performed (work cards, inspections, safety meetings, etc.) and that accurate reporting and investigating of accidents and incidents are thoroughly completed.
  • Ensure that mining employees have received proper training/accreditation for the jobs they perform and for the tools/equipment they operate.
  • Promote Agnico Eagle’s environmental and sustainability policies, ensuring all federal and provincial legislative requirements are met.
  • Prepare the shift's lineup as required, ensuring maximization of resources in an effort to achieve optimal performance and meet daily objectives safely.
  • Enforce the utilization of the work card and supervision formula principals during the course of every shift.
  • Lead the mining team in all safety and production-related matters and correctly record all relevant information and data.
  • Complete the timesheets, shift logs and reports accurately.
  • Ensure smooth communication and interaction within the technical and operations teams to assist in the planning and design so that goals are achieved.
  • Perform all other duties as requested by the management team.

What You Need to Succeed

  • High School Diploma; post‑secondary studies in a field of study related to mining are considered an asset.
  • 2 years of recent experience in a leadership position.
  • 2 years of experience in the mining industry.
  • Hold or be eligible for Level 2 Supervisor Certification, as per the Mining Act.
  • Hold or be eligible for a valid first aid certificate.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Note that the official working language at Meliadine is English.

Your Work Schedule

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest.

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
